The United States and the Aquarian Mystique

By Ken Hopkins, The Sports Astrologer

    Aquarians(those born January 20-February 19 most years) have an uncanny knack of showing up in somebody’s hall of fame for being the first, the greatest, or doing it longer or the most times in their respective profession or passion. Every Aquarian mentioned in the article to follow was either born or achieved much of their recognition and success in the good ’ole USA which happens to have an Aquarian moon at the time of the Declaration of Independence. Aquarian co-rulers Saturn and Uranus were also strong players at the July 4, 1776 planetary dance.  If you’d like to read more Aquarius, I’ll have put the above  article up on my site.

    In astrology, the sign Aquarius is ruled by the planets Saturn and Uranus. Aquarius is often called “The Water Bearer” even though it is a member of the air element in astrology. Some astrology fans have said it’s because the next sign is Pisces, a water sign, therefore Aquarius figuratively “brings or bears” water on an annual basis. I have a different take on the water bearer. If you were to go back to Genesis in the first chapter there is a lot of attention to waters.  We’re probably not speaking of the H2O kind of waters. Symbolically if you equate waters to a spiritual substance or vibration the term water bearer begins to take on a new significance.

     Aquarius in traditional astrology is characterized as inventive, intellectual, independent, freedom-loving, altruistic, and sometimes rebellious, especially when it comes to routine and the status-quo.  Each sign is blessed with a key phrase that with meditation, can give great insights to the sign and it’s meaning and its power.

The key phrase for Aquarius is “I Know”.  Aquarius is a vibration in it’s purest form, Christ Consciousness, Knowing at it’s best. All-Knowing equates to truth and when we overlay the Course in Miracles over Aquarius and the other 11 signs we have the knowing that Love is all there is. We thank those born during the vibration of Aquarius for their contribution to truth and may Aquarians and all others experience the spiritual waters of our Creator as we all remove the layers of illusion that separate us from our loving Source. As we move into a new age...may it become a timeless “knowing” and if we remove the letter k from the word know, we have “now” which is all we have. Welcome to the new age… the now  of Knowing.   Kind of reminds me of the Chicago song “Does Anyone Really Know What Time it is?”

Michelle Wie October, 11, 1989 Honolulu Hawaii  12 noon projected time.

The following is an interpretation based on declinations. Declinations is a study of the planets and major points in the zodiac, such as the rising sign or ascendant(ASC) and the midheaven(MC). The declinations are figured by the number of degrees and minutes north or south of the celestial equator. When two or more planets or points appear within a degree north of the CE or they are south CE, they are in parallel. For research and timing I look for parallels within 30 minutes or one half degree. If a planet or point is in the same degree but in the north and in the south, that is a contra-parallel. Astrologers in the past have equated the parallels with conjunctions which are found in the longitudinal or round charts, and the contra-parallels as oppositions. I see the parallels and contra parallels (CP) a little differently. I am in the process of defining what I see as the characteristics and will share as time goes on. One thing I am seeing more and more in the case of CPs is that they frequently show up by transit to the natal chart in players who win MVP awards in the baseball All Star game and the Super Bowl. I'm beginning to see the CPs as the completion of an electromagnetic circuit of sorts. Look at the northern planet as the positive pole and the southern planet or point as the negative pole. When the two points are connected by two, there is a completed electrical circuit. It's like magic when you watch these players in their game. Miguel Tejada, shortstop of the Baltimore Orioles won the MVP this past year in the MLB All Star game. He was outstanding in the field as well as at the plate. In future Super Bowls and All Star games I will attempt to predict the MVP.

Michelle Wie will have her first full year wearing the professional label. Her first venture into pro-dom  was a little embarrassing as she was disqualified for a ball drop from an unplayable lie in bush country. 2006 will find the teenage phenom picking and choosing her tournaments around schooling, but the summer months of June and July could bring her first taste of victory, if she is still looking for that first win. Our subject astrologically has the progressed Moon forming a parallel with the Sun and then doing the same with the Moon's North Node. Tiger had this same aspect in 2000.and he won three of four majors. Although winning that many majors may not be in a 16 year-old's reach, let's keep in mind that this young lady plays well beyond her years. The transiting planet Jupiter forms a magical parallel with the lunar North Node in June and July which makes this whole year laden with potential for winning and winning often within a nine or 10 week span. What Michelle has to do is prepare herself off of the golf course. She needs to remain centered and continue to embrace her family's values and remember golf is a game that requires much mental discipline to go with her already proven physical capabilities. For Michelle Wie in 2006, she might as well shoot for the stars because the sky's the limit.

// = parallel      # = contra-parallel

How to read the charts: The transiting planets and nodes are located on the left and once in the graph body while the natal placements can be viewed on the right. The natal declination points are represented by dotted lines, the transits by solid lines.  Out-of-bounds means when the Moon or other planet exceeds 23 degrees 26 minutes in the north or south. Michelle Wie had Venus go out-of-bounds in the south and it remain so until she reaches the age of 54. When a planet is OB, it's almost like a wild card situation. If a person is experiencing the event, they can go above and beyond the normal. There can be excesses and much abundance. If the person understands the vibrations, they can better harness the energies for the good of all.
