Here some "quick hits" on some of
the personalities on the sports pages.
Barry Bonds, July 24, 1964, Riverside, Ca.
A sure-fire Hall-of-Famer until the steroid scandal and apparent cover up
and stonewalling by Bonds. He has been indicted on several perjury charges
by a grand jury. He has some things in his progressed chart, but I think the
transit declination chart says a lot! He has Jupiter and Venus // at
birth(natal positions are always on the left). The south node pays a visit
in February of next year. Next about June 1st, the south node will bonk
Pluto or is it the other way around. Maybe they "conspire" or join
forces to give Barry a lesson in forgiveness(of himself) and maybe get on
with life. There is a strong chance if he is convicted he will serve some
hard time. 2009 is a key year for Barry and he may not rank it as his best
year when it's all said and done.
Roger Clemens Aug 4, 1962 Dayton, Ohio
Mr Clemens appears to have lied about his steroid use but
at least he didn't lie under oath so the only likely prison time for Roger,
the attempting "Dodger" is in our minds. No sooner than the P Moon
hits Mercury and Sun // in his natal chart, then we have confessions of a
long term relationship with one of the Country music darlings and denial
after denial that seems to be negated by hard evidence, including genetic.
The last quarter of this year may benefit from the parallel to the P north
node but then he runs up against Pluto, natal and progressed, for most of
2009. Looking at the path of the P Moon, it looks like he will be putting up
with the energies through 2011 and we'll be putting up with his irrational
explanations. That river "de Nile" is overflowing already!
Alex Rodriguez July 27, 1975 NYC
The Yankee slugger is getting ready to be
"slugged" by the parallel energies of the Moon, south node, Mars
and Saturn, yum, yum! As I have mentioned on several occasions, the
extremes, northern and southern often coincide with major life changes.
Divorce and public shame and humiliation fills the bill. Not sure that this
would lead to his retirement as he's just 33 and would like to stay around
to challenge the steroid king, Barry Bonds, all time home run total.
Madonna, Aug 16, 1958 Bay City, Michigan
Obviously Madonna's reputation(?) will not suffer as
we've been through many reports of her many escapades of many
descriptions. She does have a P Moon tagging natal Uranus January 1, 2009
and the P Uranus placement about six months later. Perhaps something
and unexpected occurs in this time frame. Would she go for Alex as a
semi-permanent roommate?
There goes her (Like a) virgin status(again)!
Interesting that these folks so much in the news are all
Leos. Maybe with the south node traipsing through the catly sign of
royalty will knock some deserving egos down a notch. Several could get their
"felines" hurt! Ahhhhhhh.
Bret Favre Oct 10, 1969 Gulfport, Miss
Oh, yes, there's one fellow who's not a Leo who will be
going through some interesting times. Bret Favre, former quarterback of the
Green Bay Packers and a future Hall-of-Fame shoo-in retired after last
football season. One can't help but think there were some ruffled feathers
on both sides of the hen house. Favre and his agent felt the Packers didn't
want him back for whatever reason. Favre retired but was that under some
mental duress? I think so. He hasn't lost a thing off of his fastball. In
other words, he can still play at a high level of quarterback efficiency as
evidenced by last year when the team fell one game short of going to the
Super Bowl. Favre has the "itch" to play and many teams are
interested. Problem is the Packers still hold his contract rights and have
reportedly stated that Favre could come back, but only as a backup.
Favre and millions of fans would find that unacceptable. A definite lose,
lose, lose situations. Favre loses, the fans lose, and the team
loses--probably in more ways than one. We've got the P Moon hitting
Mars early 2008(the retirement announcement--on impulse? Then we
have the south node between the Mars hit and the Uranus reversal happening
in July according to the P chart. The retirement thing often happens
at the extremes but maybe Bret is ready to un-Pack and play another year or
two before permanently hanging up the cleats. The best solution would be for
an agreement among the parties. How about letting Favre go for s draft
choice to the team he plays for,,,and put a non-compete clause in there that
keeps him out of the central division(Detroit, Chicago or Minnesota).
Carolina would be a good fit as they have questions at quarterback, lots of
talent on both sides of the ball, and a connection between Favre and head
coach, John Foxx. Also wouldn't it be something to see our Libra quarterback
take the field in Green Bay..as a Panther when the cats come to town October
30th. A scary thought for the Green and Gold!

2008: D’Backs are as Virgo Does
By the Sports Astrologer, Ken Hopkins article
written 3-25-08
UPDATE:
June 30, 2008 The Diamondbacks have been in a
tail spin since May 10th when Mercury reached what is called a shadow point.
This point marks the point Mercury will retrograde(go backwards) to before it
reverses itself. July 4th is when it reaches the point where it went
retrograde. With so many roster players ruled by the planet Mercury(Vigos and
Geminis) it's not surprising things have been going backawrds for the team as
a whole. It'll be interesting to see if the team repeats it's second half
performance of last year.
This year the fortunes of the Arizona Diamondbacks rest on the
shoulders of Virgo, the 6th sign of the zodiac.
No less than seven of the 40-man roster of the Diamondback were born
between August 22nd and September 22nd. Depending on exactly who makes the
opening day 25-man roster, over one-fourth of the team could be Virgo! So what
are the characteristics of a Virgo? Glad you asked!
Virgos are precise, critical, perfection-driven, fault-finding and
sometimes lack self-esteem and can be very picky. Other than that they are a
lot of fun. Seriously every sign exhibits virtuous characteristics as well as
those we sometimes perceive undesirable. It so happens that we’re
“picking” on Virgos this year. The more insecure they are, the more
difficult is is for the rest of the signs to cope. Virgo is an energy that
manifests as analytical but also possesses a strong urge for service to their
fellow man(and woman) kind. You will find many accountants and health workers
with strong Virgo influences. Being very health-conscious, Virgos are
concerned with eating right and having an exercise regimen that often leaves
the rest of us feeling like we’ve been camped out on the couch spilling
popcorn and wiping ice cream off our faces all week! Randy Johnson(9-10-1963)
is the epitome of a Virgo. He’s very concerned with taking care of his body
and also extremely focused or intense to the point of being easily irritated
if someone interrupts his routine especially on game day.
Johnson will have plenty of Virgo company in the rotation this
year. Dan Haren(9-17-80) will be in an inning-eating contest with Taurus
Brandon Webb. Doug Davis(9-21-1975) completes the discriminating starting
rotation. Another starter on the 40-man roster, Billy Buckner(8-27-83),
will likely begin the season at AA or AAA. If Buckner were to have a
big year in the minors, he could edge his way into the rotation by season’s
end. If that were to occur, 80% of the starting rotation could be Virgo!
The outfield is also ripe with the virtuous sign. Virgo is
represented by sun signs Chris Young(9-5-83) and Justin Upton(8-25-87). Even
fellow outfield roamer, Eric Byrnes, sports a Moon in Virgo. Young could
easily duplicate last year’s power numbers(30+ homers) and should he get on
base a bit more, preferably hitting for a higher average, the stolen base
comes into play more frequently putting pressure on defenses. Upton has always
hit for a decent average in the minors, so should improve on the .221 he hit
for the big club in his limited rookie season. Another outfielder on the big
roster is Alex Romero(9-9-1983).who will begin the season in the minors. The
D’Backs have had plenty of Virgo influence in the outfield in recent years
as Luis Gonzalez(9-3-67) and Carlos Quentin(8-28-82) observed birthdays
between Leo and Libra. One Virgo trait that benefits outfielders is the
ability to analyze or discern almost immediately which should make this
outfield trio the best in the majors at getting a jump on a hard-hit ball to
their area whether it’s timing the arrival of the ball in a glove, or
playing the caroms off of various outfield fences.
Many of the Virgos have another astrological feature that indicates a
time foe recognition and success, while at the same time the planet Saturn is
making it’s regular appearance in the sign after 29 years of visiting the
other signs. Often when this sun sign is visited by this planetary taskmaster,
it can be a time of getting recognition for hard work, and for some a very
trying time. With well-defined goals and a plan, Saturn energy has a more
constructive channel. Some of this Virgo bunch could have a tough time, some
should excel. If five of the seven have good or above average years, The
Diamondbacks will be the “pick” of the National League crop!
UPDATE
04/06/08: Alex Romero made the 25-man roster so we have
three outfielders and three pitchers Virgo. Doug Davies has been diagnosed
with thyroid cancer and will have surgery and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
On the positive side, Virgos Chris Young and Justin Upton hit three home runs
each in the first week as the D'Backs recorded a 4-2 record.
(Both Young and Upton have the moon at the progressed northern extreme such as
Chris Snyder's chart below)
---------------------------------------------------
It's Snyder's time to "Star" in 2008!
When we look back at the 2008 Diamondback season one thing that will
likely stand out is the play of catcher Chris Snyder.
“Snydes” as he is often called by team broadcasters and reporters,
is poised to have a breakout season. Snyder was born an Aquarian(2-12-81) in
Houston, Texas.
In astrological sports studies, there is
a particular event that unfolds every 14 years. This cyclical influence is
determined by the progressed Moon. Basically
the event occurs when the declination of the Moon is at it’s northern-most
position and 14 years later at the southern-most point. I don’t want to
spend too much time on the details so as not to lose the average listener who
may not know much astrology, so I will emphasize the results.
As
an example, here are some of the successes experienced by athletes who have
had the Progressed Moon reach the northern extreme or make contact the with a
specific declinational latitude of the Moon’s nodes. The node is where the
moon crosses the path of the natal sun going north and south. See, I lost you,
didn’t I?
Here’s what happened: Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds all set
home run records and Tiger Woods won three of the four golf majors.
In the first three examples
the progressed Moon was in the northern extreme of those players’ charts by
progression. Tiger benefited from the progressed Moon reaching the sensitive
lunar node point. Mike D’Antoni
and Avery Johnson had progressed Moons at their respective northern extremes
in theiw progressed charts when they won NBA coach of the year awards,
back-to-back. There are many, many more examples, but time and space is
limited and we can elaborate later.
. Once a month earth’s natural
satellite will appear to be far north. Two weeks later it will be low in the
southern sky. These are the lunar northern and southern extreme positions.
When they occur in the progressed chart of teams or individual athletes,
championships are won and personal achievement peaks are reached. The
Pittsburgh Steelers had this going for them when they beat Seattle in Super
Bowl 40. They also had the
northern extreme working they won back-to-back Super Bowls in 1979 and 1980.
The Indianapolis Colts had the same northern extreme when they dominated the
Bears in SB 41. The Detroit Tigers are in that cycle now having made it to the
World Series the year before last and they might do it again this year. There
is usually a three to four year span of time(two years prior to two years
after the extreme point when teams and players are likely to be having
exceptional years. Snider has the
nodal hit this year and in 2012 with the northern extreme in between. This
often coincides with outstanding personal achievements and monetary rewards to
match. There are other times when players and teams do well, but the extremes
produce a disproportionate amount of playoff teams and champions.
Snyder came on strong the last half
of last season and I expect him to pick up where he left off, Should he stay
healthy for the season, expect him to flirt with a 300 batting average,
20 home runs and 80 rbi’s. It could be an “all” star alignment in
2008. Then we’ll hear a lot of
complimentary “Snyde” remarks…..
UPDATE
6-30 Snyder is hitting about .250 but is showing tremendous
value in working with the pitching staff and is one of the major's best at
throwing out runners attempting to steal. 2009-2011 will be the years when
Snyder is making the most money with contracts signed then. Often the northern
extreme years are when career peaks. This year he got off to an extremely slow
start. Maybe I'm too optimistic about the progressed Moon-North Node parallel
for a personal best year. It often does coincide with championships, but the
extremes almost always coincide with major life changes. The season is just
half over.
Super Bowl 2008 XLII
Astrology and the Super Bowl:
A Giant Leap of Faith
Can
the New England juggernaut to an historical unbeaten season be derailed?
New York Giant fans for the most part are convinced that team that
gave the Patriots fits in the final regular season game at the Meadowlands
can finish the job in Super Bowl XLII in Glendale. Many pigskin aficionados will point to that Saturday night game that originally was scheduled for the
NFL network exclusively but due to the monumental significance of an
undefeated NFL regular season a vast TV audience watched Eli Manning coming
of football age. The Pats came
to Giants Stadium as 14-point favorites and wound up trailing part of the
game before finishing just three points better than the Big Guys. Since the
kickoff that Saturday evening, the Giants have been on a mission. A mission
that has evolved into a journey to immortality. Not only are the Giants the
first NFC team to make it to the Super Bowl as a wildcard team, but they now
own the longest road winning streak in 90 years of NFL history! Should they
win on the first February Sunday in Arizona, they will have extended that
streak to 11 and stopped New England from becoming the second team to go
unbeaten for a season. Perhaps another dose of immortality, especially in
the minds of the 1972 Dolphins. As a sidebar the Patriots are just two games
behind the Giants in consecutive road wins, having won all eight road games
this year.
Sportscasters and fans alike often make reference in a joking way to
the stars being aligned when things come together for an athlete or a team.
Usually this in reference to an MVP year or a championship. That adage of
many a true word is spoken in jest rings true and I’m here to shed some
celestial light on the match up for this year’s Super Bowl.
Astrology
is so much more involved than reading one’s sun sign forecast for the day.
There are many influences that go into the make up of a real horoscope.
There’s Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the outer planets such as
Uranus, Neptune and even the “dwarf planet” Pluto. I have looked at
astrology for decades with an inner knowing that somehow sports outcomes can
be predicted with the stars(planets). For years I decided to focus on the
Moon and Mercury in my studies. After 15 years of working and studying
it became obvious that Mercury cycles were more responsive to the
happenings on the field than lunar cycles.
During this time I was studying things from a longitudinal basis, in
essence where a planet is from where it rises in the east to where it sets
in the west continuing to the east point again. In the last four years, I
have discovered a different astrological discipline called declinations.
Declinations are based on where a planet is north or south of the celestial
equator. This approach seems to be far more indicative of game outcomes and
yearly team and individual forecasts than any system I’ve used before.
I’m one that wants to predict based on how a team or athlete has performed
in the past under similar astrological circumstances. To do this I look at
where the Moon and Mercury were at the beginning of every game, home and
away. Sometimes that equals hundreds of game dates.
In sports these days there are two major contests going on the field
simultaneously. There is the actual or real winner on the field based on who
scored the best whether it’s higher point or run totals in football,
basketball and baseball, or the fewest such as golf.
The second game is betting. Most of the football research I have done
incorporates both major contests. Now
let’s look at the game.
The
Teams:
New
York Giants:
First
Game: October 4, 1925 2:30pm New
Britain, Ct
Coach
Tom Coughlin August 31, 1946
Sun Sign Virgo, Moon sign Scorpio
QB:
Eli Manning, January 3, 1981 Sun Sign Capricorn, Moon sign Sagittarius
New
England Patriots:
First Game: September 17, 1971 1:00pm Foxboro, Ma
(originally established as the Boston Patriots September 9, 1960 8:00pm at
Boston, Ma)
Coach: Bill Belichick, April 16, 1952
Sun Sign Aries, Moon sign:Capricorn
QB: Tom Brady, Aug 3, 1977: Sun Sign: Leo, Moon sign: Aries
Planetary
game data: Moon: 7 Degrees Capricorn at –27.20. Mercury is retrograde at
20 Aquarius at –11.37.
Probably the most significant celestial event is the Moon far to
the south. A position that is OOB(Out of Bounds). What this means is that
a planet has exceeded the maximum travel of the Sun at 23 degrees and 26
minutes, the exact tilt of the earth from its axis. The Moon will exceed
the solar declination maximum once every two weeks, as the Moon swings to
the north, it is the signs of Gemini and Cancer out of bounds and then two
weeks later it’s in Sagittarius and Capricorn.
The Moon is symbolically linked to the emotions, personal and
public. It seems that many of the most newsworthy of events unfold when
the Moon is in the extreme positions. This being the largest single day
sporting event of it’s kind in any year, lends perfectly to extreme
public interest. The Moon is not out of bounds every year for the Super
Bowl, so this could be an unusual year.
There
certainly could be more fan interest than usual. We know that we have
teams with two impressive streaks, The Patriots having a chance to run the
table and finish unbeaten at 19-0 for an NFL season which has never been
done before and the Giants have an opportunity to extend their NFL record
of 10 consecutive road wins, something that has not been accomplished in
90 years of NFL competition. Which steak is more difficult to achieve. The
discussions could go eternal!
So how have the teams fared with the Lunar and Mercury cycles? Glad
you asked. Let’s look at the favorite New England Patriots. The Patriots
are 12-point favorites. The Pats have gone 9-2 winning as a road tossup or
favorite when the Moon was out of bounds in the southern extreme. Their
Mercury accomplishments at the 11th degree 1-2
straight up and against the line.
The
Giants’ Lunar cycle is not as strong as a road underdog as the Patriots
are a road favorite. The Big Guys are 5-7 with a 6-6 record versus the
line. The Mercury cycle though has them 1t 3-0 winning all three games as
an underdog which means they covered the spread as well.
With
other games this past season when two teams facing each other had winning
indicators, the underdog has won. The Fiesta Bowl comes to mind as well as
last week’s Packer-Giant game. This game should be close and I don’t
expect the handicapper’s 53 and one half total points to be met. Oh, and
what about that giant leap of faith?
This year is a leap year, so maybe we could see a New York team
“leap” over the burgeoning myth of the New England area teams that
seem so dominating of late. A Giant leap just might do it!
Here’s the “Leaping” score
New
York Giants 26 New England 23
The
Quarterbacks: Tom Brady: Has
some challenging energies at 5:20pm and 7:20 pm, while there is potential
for positives at 5:35pm and 6:35pm. (If the teams aren’t on the field,
the energies will remain idle.) Eli
Manning: High/positive
energy times are 5:45pm(near end of 1st half and 6:40 pm(probably the
middle of the 3rd quarter.

Hot Sports News: Tigers on the Growl/Prowl.
The Detroit team is certainly
plugged into the lunar extreme cycles. When the progressed Moon was at
the southern point in 1968, they won it all. Could they do it again with
the lunar northern extreme? They have a three-year window. This year the Moon paralleled the MC and
is now approaching one with progressed Mercury. The final hit on the MC
in this northern visit happens in 2008. Detroit Tigers: April 25, 1901
in Detroit.

Floyd Landis Winner? of the Tour de
France.
Glancing at the transiting declinations
some interesting things jump out. The race was completed on Sunday, July
23rd. The moon was still out of bounds at the northern peak. It seems
that much in the news during this lunar period is amplified in the eyes
of the public. Secondly, the transiting Sun's declination forms a
parallel with natal Saturn. This parallel can certainly be unfavorable
in theory as Saturn is often seen involved the stopping streaks and acts
as a kind of wall. Another interesting feature of this parallel is the
participation of the vertex. Although this is a "noon chart"
often hits on the MC, ASC and VTX seem to coincide with the events being
experienced. The end of this controversy or some degree of closure is
likely to occur when the Moon is out-of-bounds(OOB).
The secondary progressed declination chart does not readily reveal
the controversy that Landis is experiencing in the aftermath of his
alleged victory. His preliminary blood tests after the race reveal
elevated levels of testosterone. The moon is on the upswing. Using noon
as the birth time, the progressed Moon parallels progressed Jupiter. We
could expect Jupiter's influence at work for a major athletic win. We
might suspect Jupiter to possible be at work for an abundance of
something as well in a test. Also the progressed Sun is crossing the
declination latitude of the North Node. What I would normally associate
with a positive outcome. The transiting declination chart follows below.
